Prince Edward County’s Arts Trail
It already has a Taste Trail geared to food lovers. Now bucolic Prince Edward County, at the eastern end of Lake Ontario, has a new self-guided Arts Trail linking 22 of the region’s galleries and artists.
Road signs in the county point the way to the studios of painters, sculptors, potters, blacksmiths, glassblowers, jewelry makers, stained glass artists and a photographer who prints by hand.
“Prince Edward County is one of those places where the journey is half the fun,” said Carlyn Moulton, curator of the Oeno Art Gallery at Carrying Place on the Bay of Quinte.
“On almost any county road it is possible to discover a new Pinot Noir, sample terrific artisanal foods, take a walk on a sandy beach and spend time with a few of the region’s finest artists. Artists and galleries are scattered all over the island and the Arts Trail seemed like a logical way to help visitors find them.”
Prince Edward County is about 90 minutes east of Toronto.
