Canadian Small Business Networking
With the current economic downturn starting to bite now is the time for Canadian small businesses to extend their contact network and broaden their customer base. Traditionally most Canadian businesses thrived on referrals from friends and family and would often make a healthy living from them. However, times are changing and many small business owners have had to adapt to survive as referrals become harder to come by, or their competition has secured them first.
Many have turned to social networking, both offline at traditional chamber meetings or other networking groups that can be found online. Facebook and myspace for example have seen a huge growth in small businesses looking to grow their contact and referral networks. Some have found success but many haven’t so instead have turned to more specialist online social networks such as LinkedIn or Ryze.
One new Canadian business social network that has seen a rapid growth in membership since it’s soft launch a few weeks ago is The MBN (Muchmor Business Network). Free to join and free to use the MBN is a resource full of useful advice for new business start-ups and/or more experienced business professionals. The site has already seen interactions develop between members, contacts made, business relationships turn into creative partnerships and business referrals increase as the membership has grown. From the number of invites being sent out by the members themselves to their own friends and contacts it looks like the format, content, and community is delivering on it’s promise to help Canadian small businesses thrive.
