A million dollars for every Albertan?
Peter Silverstone a local entrepreneur and academic is getting people talking with the release of his new book How Albertans Can Get Rich Saving the Planet and his website richalbertans.com.
The book proposes Alberta as a centre for nuclear power and outlines how Albertans could benefit from the sale of nuclear energy, while working to reduce green house gas emissions. By taxing the electricity produced from nuclear energy, and distributing this directly to Albertans, it is estimated that every eligible Albertan will receive approximately $32,000 every year. This could amount to a lifetime payout of more than $1,000,000.
Concluding that the plan is attainable, the book explores the benefits as well as key issues that a proposal of this nature entails such as safety, disposal of nuclear waste and the economics of nuclear power.

Peter Silverstone is simply a man with an idea. He doesn’t stand to gain anything from Alberta becoming a centre for nuclear power. At least, nothing more than every other Albertan. Currently a professor at the University of Alberta, Peter is also a physician, academic and entrepreneur.
